Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a tragic incident on Monday night, a 37-year-old gold trader named Sameer Padiya was shot dead on National Highway number six in Kolaghat, West Bengal. The killed businessman's shop is in Jinkra market. Police sources have said that after committing the crime the attackers fled with a bag full of money.
The victim was shot in the head near Savita Rice Mill located in Deval Bar area of Kolaghat police station area, leading to his immediate demise.
Local residents expressed their anger towards the police for their perceived role in the incident, prompting a large gathering that blocked the road and raised slogans against the administration. Police assured that action would be taken soon, after which people ended the protest.
